National Volunteering
NATIONAL VOLUNTEER PROGRAM
Canine Assistants is pleased to announce that our volunteer program is now national! Our National Volunteer Program, Noah's Team, enables interested individuals in cities throughout the country to become involved with Canine Assistants and play an important role in supporting our organization while educating those in their communities about service dogs and how they assist individuals with physical disabilities, seizure disorders or other special needs. After having completed training requirements, Noah's Team volunteers will be eligible to participate in and assist with support activities such as presentations, special events and fund raisers. Those interested in working directly with the C.A.S.E. (Canine Assistants Special Educators) dog in their area will undergo additional training and successful completion of a training exam required to become a certified handler. Once certified, volunteers will be able to work directly with the C.A.S.E. dog which will include taking the dog on outings and providing educational presentations to schools, businesses and community groups as well as doing fundraising in their hometown.
NOAH'S TEAM LEADERS AND CANINE ASSISTANTS SPECIAL EDUCATORS (C.A.S.E.)

Within each city there will be an opportunity for a Noah's Team volunteer to be a Team Leader. After approval of the volunteer application, the Team Leader will be required to come to our facility during one of our recipient training camps (for a minimum of one week) which are held 5 times a year. During that time, the volunteer will become well versed in our training methodology, learn our handling techniques, and be assigned a C.A.S.E. dog. The volunteer will successfully complete the written exam as well as demonstrate handling proficiency and will then take their C.A.S.E. dog home.
The Team Leader will provide a safe, loving environment as well as food and veterinary care. Together they will become ambassadors for Canine Assistants and will demonstrate how our dogs assist children and adults with special needs.
While living in the Team Leader's home, the C.A.S.E. dog will continue to refine house manners, social skills and training. Together they will participate in animal assisted education, animal assisted therapy, outings to everyday places such as stores, restaurants, etc. to help reinforce social skills and appropriate behavior. Our dogs have legal access and are therefore permitted to go wherever you go.
Certified Noah's Team members will become the Support Team and will work closely with the Team Leader to help provide community awareness and may participate in the above mentioned activities.
